The first Give or Take event was organised by FRP in 1999, inspired by successful recycling initiatives in other countries. The idea has now become a national phenomenon and as more people get involved its positive momentum continues.
FRP Give or Take events are community waste exchange events that provide local residents with opportunities to get rid of unwanted items that can be reused by others.
Our Give or Take events promote reuse and at the same time encourage community exchange and environmental consideration.
The events help reduce waste, provide free access to household goods and furniture to people on low incomes and raise awareness about steps, individuals and communities can take to engage positively in action to individually and collectively mitigate effects of global warming.
Commission FRP to hold a Give or Take event
We offer to completely plan and deliver your event. Depending on your requirements, this may include:
- Local collections and deliveries by van
- Poster and leaflet design
- Publicity
- Large donation of quality goods from our ReUse Centre
- Bicycle maintenance and advice – offered for free to the public
- Creative workshop to provide outreach and education on the day – mainly aimed at children and young people.
We can design an event to suit your budget and requirements.
We already work with local councils in Waltham Forest, Hackney and Redbridge and some other partners, and organise around 20 Give or Take events each year in North East London. We are always looking to work with new partners in London.
